OrderWorks™: Companywide Project Management
It became obvious during the boom years of the 1990s that, to ensure our ability to effectively support facility change on an ever-larger scale, Service West would need information technology that did not then exist.
So we developed OrderWorks™, a database-driven software system designed specifically for the planning, estimating, tracking and project management needs of a professional furniture, facility and commercial moving services business. To further leverage the system’s efficiencies and scalability, we integrated OrderWorks with our finance and accounting system.
As unique today as it was at the time of its inception, OrderWorks is an installation outfit’s dream application. All of our branches use it. While continually refining OrderWorks for use in project management, we have also developed modules for asset management and delivery services—AssetWorks™ and DeliveryWorks™, respectively. Registered users enjoy the convenience of using these modules through interfaces at our website.
Rapid Mobility, Mobile Communications
Most of our truck fleet and virtually all of our managers’ personal vehicles are equipped with GPS. This helps ensure that, wherever our clients and their jobs may be, we always travel efficiently and arrive when we’re needed.
And whether our people are on the move or at the job site, our companywide Nextel radio/cellular network enables a constant flow of communication and information between the office, the field, and our clients.
