As mentioned in an earlier blog of ours, at the center of changes in the office space landscape has been the introduction of coworking spaces, such as WeWork. More and more companies are now opting for these coworking spaces or offices with a similarly large, open design. However, anyone working in a large open space office knows that it can sometimes be bittersweet. While it makes it easier to collaborate with others, it can also be very distracting when you are trying to concentrate. Fortunately, there is a new solution for office space distraction on the market today: Wear Space.
Simply put, Wear Space is wearable private space. Panasonic’s Future Life Factory design studio partnered with a Japanese fashion designer named Kunihiko Morinaga to create this smart solution to privacy.
Wear Space is made of a flexible material that is folded in a “U” shape around the back of one’s head. It has two ear cushions that work similar to headphones, canceling out background noise and allowing the wearer to comfortably hold the device in place. Basically, it is a personal partition combined with noise canceling headphones.
This device is able to block up to 60 percent of the wearer’s peripheral vision. So, people who are trying to concentrate in a public space can easily create their own makeshift privacy. This will be beneficial for anyone who has trouble concentrating, as it forces you to only see what you are working on in front of you.
